With many people suffering through the pandemic, there’s only so much our local philanthropists can do.

Which is why it’s great to see how Malaysians are taking the initiative to do their part.

Hasha (@nurhashaidris) took to her Twitter account to showcase her family’s ‘pondok sedekah’, a small cement hut that provides food and other essentials to the less fortunate located in front of the Omar Ali Villa in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur.

She wrote, “My mum just opened a pondok sedekah in honour of her parents. If anyone you know is staying around Keramat or Kampung Baru and is in need of essentials, do drop by.”

Last Wednesday, her brother and their team even managed to distribute essential packages to 25 families in need.

Running a charity project can be hard, which is why it’s great that other Malaysians have also stepped in to help, by making donations to their pondok and by providing essentials themselves!

“Our pondok was running low on items but we received an anonymous package filled with essentials! May God bless you for your kind gesture,” Hasha shared.

They even received over RM2,000 in donations in the span of two days!

“To think that it all started from a small pondok, thank you all so much for the support,” she added.

If you are interested in donating to this family’s amazing pondok sedekah, do feel free to reach out to Hasha via her Twitter account.
