Indomie is love, Indomie is life.
Upcycling or creative reuse is the art of transforming waste or unwanted materials into something that is new and holds artistic and environmental values. Well, if you want to see upcycling in action, then look no further than this beautifully crafted bomber jacket created by used Indomie packagings.
In case you didn’t know, Indomie is an instant noodle product from Indonesia that is extremely popular in Malaysia as well as other countries worldwide. In fact, it is estimated that Indofood, the company behind Indomie actually produces a whopping 15 billion packets of Indomie every year! Woah :O
However, with great production volumes, great wastage becomes an unfortunate byproduct too. Thankfully, there are people such as Putri, an Indonesian social media personality who is behind this creative Indomie bomber jacket which can help reduce pollution by upcycling them.
Through her Instagram profile @putrisamboda, she showcases the potential behind upcycling everyday waste products by turning them into stunning clothing pieces that makes for a bold yet elegant fashion statement. Upcycling just for fun, Putri taught herself how to create these pieces and before you ask, no, unfortunately, they are not for sale.
Take the Indomie bomber jacket for example, not only is it bold and colourful, but it’s also practical as well by being waterproof. Furthermore, it is also reversible just in case you get too many stares from the crowd when putting it on.
Awesome! Besides this Indomie bomber jacket, she has also crafted other clothing pieces out of everyday waste products such as a jacket made out of flour packagings, a McDonald’s handbag, a SamYang tanktop and much more.
