The post Asians Slam British Etiquette Expert For Saying Rice Shouldn’t Be Eaten With Hands appeared first on WORLD OF BUZZ.
The angry Asian in all of us is just so triggered right now!
It’s an undisputed fact that rice is a staple Malaysian (and Asian) dish no matter if you’re Malay, Chinese or Indian. Rice dishes vary from different degree starting from a bowl of simple fried rice to a decadent nasi kandar or banana leaf. The point here is that it’s safe to say Asians know best about rice.
While a majority of Malaysians use their hands to eat, there are still some Malaysians who use fork and spoon to eat which is perfectly fine. What’s not cool is shaming anyone for the way they eat! Twitter account The Royal Butler (@TheRoyalButler) who claims to be Britain’s Etiquette Expert is being called out for racism and insensitivity over his latest tweet. Grant Harrold is said to be the former butler for Prince Charles, William and Harry.
Ladies and gentlemen, remember we always use a knife and fork or chopsticks to eat rice! We do not use our hands or fingers !!! pic.twitter.com/xCJEKXg26K

“Ladies and gentlemen, remember we always use a knife and fork or chopsticks to eat rice! We do not use our hands or fingers !!”
Now, it’s unsure if the post was made as a joke because isn’t it a little bit of a hassle to eat rice using knives? Nevertheless, this post invoked anger from a majority of the Southeast Asian community who believe that The Royal Butler being a British man lacks authority on the subject.
“Says the people who don’t was their butt with water and step into their house with shoes on (which has already been contaminated by God knows what).
At least I know where my hand touched. Do you know how they clean the cutleries and what mouths have touched those cutleries.”
Besides the heavily brought up “you don’t even wash your butt” point, one netizen even pointed out that it’s ironic the Brit is teaching people how to eat rice when a majority of rice in England is imported from Asia.
“Colonisers shouldn’t be dictating how to eat rice when the varietals you colonisers eat were domesticated from Asia and Africa so you should learn how we do it. We, Koreans, eat rice with spoons and with hands (kimbap). The Japanese on the other hand have their onigiri.”
While “The Royal Butler” is yet to respond to all these hated, it’s clear that netizens are united and steadfastly beside their point which is that, RICE SHOULD BE EATEN WITH YOUR HANDS!
