Is sex the only reason to get married?
Marriage is definitely complicated and what more if it’s an arranged marriage as you need to be prepared for a lifelong commitment with a person you barely know. Nevertheless, there are many couples who have an arranged marriage or meet through matrimonial services and actually end up having a happy, healthy marriage.
One man who had an arranged marriage posted his predicament in the group Madras Techies about him and his wife who have been married for four years in an arranged marriage. He mentioned that he and his wife really love each other but in their four years of marriage, they have yet to have intercourse once.
“Each time when I try to initiate, she closes her legs very tightly and closes her private part with her hands. I can’t do anything after that.”
He added that when he asked his wife about this, she said that she’s not able to control her legs and even cried to him saying that she’s not able to control her body. The guy said he only has one wish which is to have a child with his beloved wife.
“I consulted a local doctor (a foolish one I might add) who told me to threaten my wife with the word divorce but I refused to even use the words against my wife.”
The guy also said he’s reluctant to bring this issue up with their parents as he’s aware of what their responses might be. He’s adamant that no matter what the situation is, he will never leave his wife at all. Desperate, he turned to netizens asking for suggestions for his problem.
Unsurprisingly, there were some vulgar suggestions of how he can “love his wife better”. Nevertheless, some netizens advised that he and his wife should visit a qualified Obstetrics & Gynaecology doctor as the wife might have vaginismus. According to Medical News Today, vaginismus is a condition involving a muscle spasm in the pelvic floor muscles. It can make it painful, difficult, or impossible to have sexual intercourse, to undergo a gynecological exam, and to insert a tampon.
“Maybe going straight into intercourse makes it difficult for her. Or it could be her reflex action to do so due to some traumatic event in the past. You could start by talking heart to heart with her and then progressing into whatever feels right in the moment.”
