Those With Permission To Travel Interstate Can Only Do So From Monday To Thursday

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) posted a statement on their official Facebook page regarding interstate travel.

The statement starts off by saying how PDRM is taking the rise in cases seriously and that they will be implementing measures to prevent the spread of the virus. Interstate travel will now only be allowed for the following situations:

  • Work purposes
  • Emergency & death (immediate family members only)
  • Medical purposes
  • Education purposes
  • Long-distance married couples

Elaborating on this, they said that those with permission to travel interstate can only do so from Mondays to Thursdays. Interstate travel forms will not be approved if the date of travel falls on Friday, Saturday and Sunday except for emergency purposes, death or long-distance married couples.

Interstate travel is still not allowed for social reasons such as attending weddings or any sort of social function. This will continue until after Hari Raya Aidilfitri. PDRM has warned that those who do not abide by these rules will have strict actions taken upon them.

These strict rules certainly spark a few questions in our head, like how can a person who lives in another state go to their office on a Friday? How does a person in the service industry who lives in another state go to work during the weekend? We certainly hope that there will be more clarification on these rules.

Stay tuned for more updates!
