The International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) letters for interstate and inter-district travel will expire as of 31 May 2021, and will no longer be valid for use starting 1 June, following the implementation of the full lockdown.
Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob took to yesterday’s press conference to share the news.
He said, “With the implementation of this new MCO, all travel letters for workers that have been provided by MITI will only be in effect until 31 May. They can no longer be used starting 1 June. And starting 1 June, all letters allowing workers to travel inter-district and so forth will only be provided by the related ministries.”
The minister then gave an illustration of this with an example.
“If it is in relation with the agriculture industry, then only the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries can provide a letter.”
He added that the Senior Minister of the Ministry of Works Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah will have a coordination meeting in regards to this with all the related ministries, today.
