M’sians Praise CITF For Starting Phase 1 Of Homeless Community Vaccination Programme

We should give credit where credit is due!

The past few days definitely haven’t looked great for the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) due to the debacle of the opt-in registration for the AstraZeneca vaccine and claims from some Malaysians that they were allegedly underdosed with their vaccine amounts.

However, the comments section of the JKAVMY Twitter account was filled with praises recently after they posted pictures from the first phase of the vaccination programme for the homeless community that started yesterday (27 May).

The programme took place at Homeless Transformation Centre, Anjung Kelana, Taman Desa. It involved 119 homeless individuals who are residing at the homeless transit placement centre in Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysians praised this move as this community are at risk as they don’t have proper living conditions. Some of them can’t afford to get medicine for themselves. It is also hard to do contact tracing for the people in the community.

“This is fairness. They’re the most vulnerable and carry higher risk of spread. Not those *cough* politicians who have multiple homes to live in, can work-from-home but choose not to work. Good move CITF and frontliners!”

“Very good move, especially in KL, there are so many homeless people that can’t even afford to buy a mask. Some of them collect masks from the road or bins and wash them. It’s so heartbreaking to watch.”

One netizen reminded other Malaysians who have the privilege of signing up and waiting for their vaccines to be patient, adding that the homeless community is equally at risk, if not more so, of contracting the virus.

“Some of you are so condescending. Ok, you haven’t gotten yours but they’re also at risk of getting the virus just as much if not more than you. You have way more access to get the vaccine but some of them don’t even have a phone to sign up for it. Sit down and wait.”

Let us know what you think about CITF’s latest efforts!
