After Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced on 20 May that cases have been increasing drastically, he stated more areas will be put under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) across the nation.

These include 15 areas in Terengganu, 24 in Pahang, two in Kelantan, four in Perak, five in Sabah, one in Sarawak, and one in Johor. All of which were scheduled to start on 22 May. On top of this, the government is expected to have a meeting to discuss a possible full MCO with all the Chief ministers and Menteri Besar.

As the third round of MCO starts, it seems as though the people still haven’t learned after two MCOs.

A few Facebook users took to their page sharing pictures of people lining up at a few grocery outlets in Ipoh as people allegedly started to panic buy and stock up on groceries and other essentials, yesterday evening.

Nonetheless, it has been said that there is no need to over-purchase groceries as food resources are constant, therefore overstocking is unnecessary.

This behaviour of needing to overbuy gives others a difficult time getting what they need. Excessive stocking also usually results in food wastage.

Fortunately, there are quite a number of Malaysians who agree that panic buying is outrageous, sharing that the panic is unnecessary as shops will remain open.
