Many people are getting creative with how they run their businesses in order to stay afloat. One of the initiatives taken by restaurant owners is to offer park and dine services as dine-in is prohibited.

However, in a recent report by Astro Awani, the Police Commissioner of Sarawak, Datuk Aidi Ismail has said that the Park-and-Dine service is prohibited as it violates the SOPs.

“This service violates the SOPs. Only takeaway is allowed. Preparing food to be eaten in cars is not categorised as takeaway.”

For illustration purposes only.

“This activity can be compounded as it doesn’t adhere to the SOPs. I would like to emphasise that serving customers by bringing it to their vehicles and collecting the food containers from the customers when they are done is not takeaway.”

According to the Public Communication Unit of Sarawak, it is said that this service is a “clear violation of SOPs.”

“This matter will be taken seriously in order to curb the spread of Covid-19.”
