The post Tested Positive For Covid-19? Don’t Panic, Here’s What You Should Do Next appeared first on WORLD OF BUZZ.
It’s no secret that Covid-19 has infiltrated our everyday lives. While it seems as though we can’t avoid reading or talking about it, how many of us actually know what to do in a situation where we test positive for Covid-19?
@ainnanism took to Twitter to pose the question and added a list of practical steps on what you should do if you have tested positive for the virus:
1. Quarantine
This is one of the most crucial steps you can take. Immediately quarantine yourself after the swab test until the test is proven negative. If the test comes out negative, quarantine yourself for extra precaution.
The Ministry of Health (KKM) suggested that the quarantine period should be done in a single well-ventilated room and it is advisable not to share the bathroom with anyone in the house.
2. Identify your close contacts 10 days before the swab test
Close contacts can be identified by these three criteria:
- Direct contact (touching)
- Staying in the same closed room for more than an hour
- Talking face-to-face without a face mask for more than 15 minutes
Once your close contact has been identified, contact them to get their full information including their full names, ic numbers, phone numbers, relationships, date of the last contact, and statuses.
You can even make a neat and orderly list like this:
When asking for the details from your close contacts, let them know that you have tested positive. Be sure to notify your workplace as well. You can also use the list to register all your close contacts to get swab tested themselves.
Director-General of Health, DG Noor Hisham Abdullah suggested that the quarantine period should be done for 10 days from the last date of exposure to a positive case.
3. Monitor your symptoms
Pay attention to your bodily changes and be aware if you are starting to show symptoms. Be sure to also keep track of when you start to experience symptoms. Normal symptoms can be relieved with throat lozenges, cough syrup, paracetamol, etc.
However, if you’re experiencing breathing difficulties, do call up a hospital or an emergency hotline for further assistance.
Let’s help each other during this critical time and not be selfish. The fight is not over so stay safe and stay at home!
