Green Packet Berhad (Green Packet or ‘The Group’) has launched a social campaign to spread awareness on the National COVID-19 Immunisation programme (PICK) together with its network of partners, with a focus on reaching the underserved segments around the country.

As the country works towards achieving herd immunity and the reopening of the economy, the Government has increased efforts to expand the vaccination programme nationwide by procuring larger supplies of vaccines and opening more vaccination centres. While the majority of the population are generally receptive towards the inoculation efforts, there are still pockets within the community who may be reluctant to participate due to asymmetrical information and education on concerns of side-effects and effectiveness of vaccines.

What is the #DemiTersayang campaign all about?

The aim of the #DemiTersayang campaign is to help ease these concerns by rallying Malaysians who have already received their vaccinations to share their stories online and provide support for others to do the same. The campaign was inspired by a story of a 73-year-old man in Terengganu who took the vaccine ‘demi anak’ or for his children, as he wanted to be able to enjoy their presence while protecting them at the same time. Many of the stories that have been shared so far show Malaysians’ willingness to do so primarily to protect their loved ones.

The initiative also aims to narrow the gaps in digital literacy experienced by many senior citizens or rural folks who show interest in receiving vaccines but are not equipped with the right tools or knowledge to properly register themselves.

What other initiatives are being carried out?

In addressing this challenge, Green Packet has produced simplified content in both video and visual formats to share information and simplified steps on how to register for the vaccine on the MySejahtera mobile application or Jawatankuasa Khas Jaminan Akses Vaksin COVID-19 (JKJAV) website.

The Group has dedicated all its digital assets including its website, social media platforms and in-app communications to help raise awareness on getting vaccinated. The initiative is supported by the Group’s various partners, including:

  • Digital Perak
  • GPPPKMM & Warongku
  • Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor (KUIS)
  • Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM)
  • Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL)
  • Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI)
  • Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)
  • Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM)

This is to ensure that this critical message reaches all levels of society, particularly the underserved, and to help spread awareness on the Government’s vaccine programme.

Group employees are also being well-taken care of!

The company is also complementing the public healthcare fight against Covid-19 to ensure all Green Packet employees are able to get vaccinated. The Group is offering Antibody Testing services to employees via its partner CareValet which will enable them to detect the presence of antibodies and determine whether the vaccine effect is adequate for the individual. Group employees will also be able to enjoy a Long Term Medication prescription as part of existing benefits offered by the company.

“At Green Packet, we believe that everyone should have equal access to thrive digitally, which reflects why many of our technology solutions are designed to champion the development of the underserved segments by providing them tools to become more digitally savvy. By harnessing the power of our existing partnerships, we hope to use technology to reach Malaysians from all walks of life to support the nation’s goal of achieving herd immunity against the COVID-19 virus. We are inspired to share these personal stories with a hope to make a lasting impact on our communities and encourage more Malaysians to protect both themselves and their loved ones through vaccinations,” said Ku Kok Peng, Green Packet’s group chief strategy officer.

Green Packet welcomes more Malaysians to join in sharing their vaccination stories online with the hashtag #DemiTersayang and to leverage the information available on its website and platforms to support those who may need help with navigating the digital registration process.
