90% Of Port Klang Recycling Factory Destroyed After Raging Fire Engulfs Building

A plastic recycling factory in the Bandar Sultan Sulaiman industrial area, Port Klang, caught fire last night, 11 August.

According to Astro Awani, Selangor Fire & Rescue Department Director Norazam Khamis said that the fire occurred last night before 9pm and was fully controlled. However, the complete process of extinguishing would take time because it involved plastic items.

“We have controlled the fire from spreading to the next building. Alhamdulillah, currently no casualties have been reported, and the workers in the building managed to evacuate to safety. The extinguishing process is now underway.”

“I received information from my men (regarding the fire) before 9pm this evening but (the fire) may have started earlier. For now, I can’t give you more information. We also mobilised about 60 personnel and officers for this operation,” he said, as reported by BERNAMA.

He added that about 90% of the factory has been destroyed.

Norazam gave his statements when asked about the development of the fire situation in the Port Klang area after a 20-second video recording of the incident was posted on Facebook.

According to Utusan Malaysia, the fire was finally under control at around 10.51pm yesterday and no injuries or deaths were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
