It has been several months since we’ve been able to dine-in at restaurants with our friends and family, especially for those living in the Klang Valley, and just thinking about it gives us flashbacks to the good memories we had when we were free to eat wherever and whenever we wanted.
While we wait for the day when we can reunite with our loved ones over a meal, we should still be civil and keep public areas clean and not throw uneaten food just because we aren’t allowed to eat at a shop.
RapidKL shared in a Facebook post today (13 August) that certain Light Rapid Transit (LRT) passengers at LRT Titiwangsa have been eating while waiting for their train and leaving the unfinished food at the platform without discarding it properly.
A photo shows some nasi lemak and a packet of sambal left on a window ledge.
“Even though you haven’t dined in at restaurants for a long time, please don’t express your longing by dining at LRT stations in this manner,” RapidKL wrote.
“Let’s all keep the cleanliness of public places together for our own comfort.”
Netizens also shared their sentiments about the situation with some saying that that station is often frequented by homeless individuals.
“This is a homeless port. Better to put a shutter on the escalator so that homeless people can’t spend the night here,” one netizen said.
However, RapidKL doubts that it was a homeless person and suspects that it is a passenger because the incident happened on the platform where passengers wait before boarding the train.
Some netizens urged RapidKL to check their CCTV footage while others said that Malaysia can never have “nice things”.
- “That’s why Malaysia cannot have nice things… If it’s not littered with trash… it’s covered by ah long stickers.”
- “That’s what is called first-class facility, but third-class mind.”
- “That’s our attitude, it has never changed. When we want to complain, we’re very clever to compare with other countries, but we ourselves are useless.”
If we want change to take place in our nation, it has to start with us and it starts with small things like this.
