No Fully vaccinated individuals will be allowed to enter Sarawak without having to undergo the 14-day quarantine as previously implemented. This will take effect on 16 September 2021.
According to Astro Awani, the decision was made by the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) after assessing the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak and other states, and following the increase of vaccinated individuals nationwide.
Chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said in a statement that the decision only applies to individuals from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Labuan. However, he said that a permit from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) is still needed.
Additionally, children and adolescents under the age of 18 who enter Sarawak with a fully vaccinated guardian will be exempted from the 14-day quarantine as well. However, they are advised to conduct self-monitoring at home for 10 days.
On the other hand, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals would have to undergo quarantine for 10 days at designated quarantine hotels.
Meanwhile, the standard operating procedures (SOP) for individuals entering from abroad remains the same.
Here are the steps you need to take to travel to Sarawak:
Fully vaccinated individuals
- Make an application in EnterSarawak
- Fill in the eHealth Declaration Form (eHDF)
- Include proof of ‘full vaccination’ status
- Negative RT-PCR result (valid for 3 days only)
- Other relevant personal information
Unvaccinated/partially vaccinated individuals
- Make an application in EnterSarawak
- Fill in the eHealth Declaration Form (eHDF)
- Negative RT-PCR result (valid for 3 days only)
- Other relevant personal information
Do be reminded that the definition of ‘fully vaccinated’ is as follows:
- Two-dose vaccine (Pfizer/Sinovac/AstraZaneca) – 14 days after second dose
- One-dose vaccine (CanSino/Jansen) – 28 days after first dose
