Deepavali is just around the corner and with the lockdowns just passing, we still need to ensure there isn’t a sudden burst in Covid-19 cases.
Hence why the authorities have announced the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Deepavali.
Kementerian Perpaduan Negara took to their Twitter page to share the SOPs.
The SOPs are as follows:
For those in Phase 3
- Religious activities at houses of worship are only for those who are fully vaccinated, while still taking into considering the size of the temple and maintaining a 1-meter physical distance between worshippers.
- Religious activities are only allowed between 6am to 2pm and 4pm to 10pm.
- Dine-in at houses of worship is not allowed, only packed food is allowed for devotees to bring home.
For those in Phase 4
- Religious activities at houses of worship are only for those who are fully vaccinated, while still taking into considering the size of the temple and maintaining a 1-meter physical distance between worshippers.
- Religious activities can be carried out based on the times seen appropriate by the houses of worship.
- Dine-in at houses of worship is not allowed, only packed food is allowed for devotees to bring home.
General Deepavali SOPs
- Processions are not allowed.
- Deepavali bazaars are only allowed based on permission and control of the local authorities.
- Home visitations are allowed only for those who are fully vaccinated, in accordance with interstate travel approvals.
- Cemetery visitations are allowed only for those who are fully vaccinated, in accordance with the SOPs for the different phases of the National Recovery Plan.
