To serve and to protect. That’s what the police are sworn to do once they sign up for the duty.
Despite the negative perceptions that they often get, most of them actually carry out their duties responsibly and some even risk their lives just to serve and to protect.
Just recently, the police in North Johore had taken to their Facebook account, Polis Daerah Johor Bahru Utara to share an incident about how the life of a disabled was eased a little thanks to the help of an abang polis.
Last Thursday (25 November), a police officer had spotted a green Iswara stranded on Jalan Kempas Lama, Johore. The vehicle was driven by an Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU), a disabled.
Apparently, the car couldn’t start and that’s when the police officer, who was patrolling the area, helped the disabled to inspect the car after moving it to the roadside.
Fortunately, there was nothing serious as the car had merely run out of fuel. The police officer immediately helped him to refuel the car and it did not take long for the car to start again.
The post also ended with a caption that says:
“A good deed is not just a duty, but above all, a privilege.”
Netizens’ hearts are warmed
Netizens are amused by this incident and most of them expressed their gratitude towards the abang polis for helping the rakyat, regardless of the race.
“This officer is so kind-hearted for willing to help. Only God can repay him. Police and the citizen are inseparable.”
They say not all heroes wear capes, and this is certainly one of them.
