Many people have now turned to hiking for their mental health. However, as hiking is normally done in forests or hills, there may be danger lying there especially during rainy seasons.
On 29 November, the Selangor Forestry Department has announced on its Facebook page that the permanent forest reserves in the state of Selangor will be temporarily closed from 1 December until 31 January 2022.
This closure means that all hiking activities are prohibited and if anyone is found hiking at the permanent forest reserves, actions will be taken under the National Forestry Act 1985 (Adoption) Enactment.
When contacted by BERNAMA, the Director of the Selangor Forestry Department, Datuk Ahmad Fadzil Abd Majid, explained that the reason behind the closure is due to the monsoon season and they would like to avoid any injuries or mishaps happening to the hikers.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, a personnel of the Selangor Forestry Department has said that these are the areas affected by the prohibition. This list is found on their website.

- Taman Rimba Templer
- Gunung Nuang
- Sungai Sendat
- Taman Rimba Ampang
- Kanching
- Sungai Tekala
- Taman Rimba Komanwel

Well, the hiking plans will have to wait until it’s safer. For now let’s just take walks in the public parks.
