Singapore – Malaysia Land Travel Lane To Be Ready In The “Next Few Weeks”

About a week ago, it was reported that there will be a Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) between Malaysia and Singapore. Of course, many of us were overjoyed as it had been almost two years since we went to our neighbouring country.

However, the VTL that is starting on 29 November is a travel lane via KLIA and Changi Airport and not by land. Prime ministers from both countries have said that a land VTL is in the works.

Speaking more on it, Singapore’s Minister of Trade and Industry has said that the discussions between both nations have been going well, reported The Straits Times.

“We are working to launch this (land VTL) soon, hopefully in a few weeks’ time.”

According to TODAY Online, he continued and said, “Singapore and Malaysia share close ties on many fronts, especially among our people. Many families have been separated from one another for a long time because of border restrictions… we hope this land-link arrangement will allow many of them to be reunited.”

Other than that, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has released a statement on their VTLs. It is stated that those who would want to travel via the air VTL can apply for the Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) starting from 22 November 2021. More information will be provided at the end of this week.

With this VTL, fully vaccinated tourists can traverse between countries and replace the mandatory quarantine period with a Covid-19 test.

Well, this is certainly good news! We’re definitely looking forward to the travel lanes.
