Inspiring M’sian Man With Only 1 Leg Volunteers To Help Flood Victims With The Aid of Crutches

The recent flash floods have led to Malaysians of all races, locals from other states and even non-Malaysians uniting and working together for the purpose of helping those in need.

Apart from all of that, differently-abled people have also stepped in to give their support and help to those who have been badly affected by the floods.

In an interview with Astro Awani, Mohamad Shukor Jab who is a person with disabilities (OKU) shared his story of how he had volunteered with the clean up efforts.

The 45-year-old who has lost 1 of his legs following an accident at the age of 11, felt that he needed to step in and help.

With the help of crutches, he was one of the volunteers with a group called the ‘Dirt Buster Team’ who had gone to Dengkil to help clean the homes of flood victims.

Mohamad Shukor said that he was saddened after seeing what the flood victims have had to go through.

“Looking at what they are going through, anyone will feel the calling to come and help them. I may be an OKU but looking at their condition, I no longer think about my own inadequacies.”

“Today we are trying to help the residents of this area as there is currently a lack of volunteers here,” he said.

We hope that his actions will inspire more Malaysians to come and help others in times of need.

Thank you Mohamad Shukor, for your selflessness and dedication despite having to go through your own obstacles.
