PDRM Warns Flood Victims To Be Careful of Ah Long Taking Advantage of Them by Offering Financial Aid

With the pandemic and the flood crisis happening at the same time, the financial burden is one of the inevitable hardships that some of us have to experience. The good thing is, there are a lot of people out there who are generous enough to offer a helping hand.

Unfortunately, there are also people who take advantage of flood victims during these tough times.

Just yesterday, the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (JSJK) from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) shared an official statement on their Facebook account to warn people about irresponsible parties taking advantage during this flood crisis.

Based on a little information that they have received, a few people from an unlicensed moneylender syndicate or loan sharks and most commonly known as Ah Long have started to approach flood victims to offer them financial aid.

At the time of writing, there have been no police reports lodged to the authorities on the matter. However, police are urging people, especially flood victims to be more careful and alert to avoid becoming victims of these Ah Longs.

Police also assured us that they have always been committed to observing and eliminating any activities associated with loan sharks.

People are also urged to provide the police with any information by becoming their “eyes and ears”. Should you have any information regarding loan sharks’ activities, do contact the police at the numbers below:

We would also like to remind everyone to be more careful and selective when being offered financial help, especially if they appear suspicious.
