An E-Sports Hall With a Gaming Zone Will Be Opened in TAR UC Where Students Will be Able to Play Games!

The pile of assignments that we often get as students can often lead to stress. When we are stressed out, we often  resort to gaming for a quick break.

Students in Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARUC) may soon be able to enjoy the luxury of gaming in their campus as an e-sports arena that literally allows the students to play games will be opened very soon!

President of UTAR University College, Professor Li Shi Wei revealed that the reason for the establishment of the e-sports hall is to allow the students to enjoy life on campus, according to Oriental Daily.

He also explained that it would be a good environment for the students to pursue their interests, as well as to open more opportunities in the gaming and e-sports industry, which seem to be the in thing.

“These are part of the young people’s lives. As long as they are not too addicted, then it shouldn’t be a problem.”

Gaming in today’s society has gone beyond just simply playing games, and it has become an industry with various jobs and roles.

Nowadays, there are even courses which are closely related to the e-sports industry, such as computer science, IT and game design.

If students are gamers themselves, Li believes that after upgrading these skills, they can even go on to become game developers.

A new way to enjoy campus life!

The Gaming Zone in the e-sports hall will consist of the following:

  • 42 gaming computers.
  • VIP zone, with 6 computers of higher specifications.
  • Space to host small & medium-sized events.
  • Live broadcast room.

The arena was actually planned as early as 2019 and is a collaboration between the university and Agri Mind, an e-sports industry solution provider, to set up an e-sports hall on campus for students.

The hall was completed last year but the pandemic rendered it to a temporary halt until the university officially announced the news last month.

The e-sports hall will open its doors to on-campus students tomorrow (15 February). The admission price is yet to be announced, but it will be cheaper than the cyber cafes outside the campus.

Gamers, does this trigger your urge to enroll in the university? Do you wish that more universities create such facilities? Let us know in the comments.
