M’sian Owes Bank RM0.01 & Pays RM1 But Has To Submit Documents Just For Bank To Refund RM0.99

Many of us often hate having to go to the bank to settle anything outstanding as it often comes with a lot of documents that needs to be submitted.

Recently, a Malaysian named TZ shared his banking experience on Twitter. In TZ’s tweet, he said, “So today I found out I still have an outstanding of RM0.01 left for my car loan.”

“The bank needs me to pay that 1 sen before I can proceed with cancelling bank’s claim on the car.”

“But, I can’t make online transfer of 1 sen because it is below the minimum transfer amount,” he explained.

He always felt like banks are screwing with him. “So I thought about screwing them back and transferring RM1.”

“Hahaha! Now the bank can remove its claim on my car and owes me 99 cents instead. Good luck with processing that! I laughed inside.”

However, to his disappointment, the bank told him that if he wanted his 99 cents back, he needs to submit a request and send some documents.

“You win, bankers. You f’in always win,” he concluded the post.

Solutions on how to settle the issue

His post has gone viral and currently sits on over 15,500 likes and 8,705 shares. Some users offered solutions on how he should deal with the situation.

“Bro. Just go to the branch and steal a pen. The case is settled,” suggested one netizen.

Another user told him to submit and request and the necessary documents. “Give them a few days then send them a reminder.. repeat until you get your 99 cents back.”

Meanwhile, one user explained how his wife had overpaid her credit card by RM0.15 before cancelling the card. “The bank continues to send monthly statements ever since. Gratifying when all it takes is 15 cents to inflict additional cost on the bank.”

Users shared similar experiences

On the other hand, plenty of users shared similar experiences of having to go through the same thing.

“Settled my credit card but still have balance of RM0.10. I still need to settle that 10 cents,” said one user.
