It is unavoidable that sometimes we have risky and dangerous objects to throw away.
From broken glass to satay sticks, we throw away these items as they pose a potential threat to our loved ones, but we should also consider the dangers it may pose our sanitation workers.
An old post from the Facebook page, Cendawan Cheese, is going viral to remind us to always package these dangerous items properly before throwing them away, so that our garbage collectors can remain safe while they help us keep our neighbourhoods clean.
“Please cooperate,” urged Cendawan Cheese.
The post showcased an old, all-used-up detergent bottle that has been labeled ‘Sharp waste and objects‘.
The bottle can be used to dispose of dangerous, sharp items such as needles, broken knives and plates and even satay sticks.
“Take the sharp objects and waste, put them in a bottle or container that can hold these sharp items, label it and dispose,” the post shared.
This is so that these sharp objects don’t harm garbage collectors when they carry out their duties.
“Everyday, waste workers will face unknown sharp objects from your trash bin. It is a safety hazard. You’ll be doing a favour for both you and the waste workers by being safe,” the post added.
It’s always better to be safe than sorry, plus, by doing this, we can show that we hold the safety of our garbage disposal officers in high regard.
If you already practice this, kudos! But if you do not, let’s all start today so that we can ensure that we do not bring any harm to our waste workers.
