Nine-year-old Nong Weir is a young entrepreneur who has been selling crepes at the Yen Daeng Market, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. According to Khaosod Online, the elementary school student already has a group of steady customers waiting for his delicious crepes.
They asked Nong’s brother-in-law, Sattaya Kham, who said Nong who’s in Grade Three and has been selling crepes at the fresh market every Saturday, Sunday, and also school holidays.
Previously, Nong came to the market to help Sattaya in his stall that sold grilled sticky rice but later he expressed his desire to open his own stall. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, his family hasn’t been getting much household income and thus he wanted to earn money to help bear the costs of some house expenses and for his pocket money.
Nong is a self-taught crepe maker who learned the art of crepe-making himself through visiting multiple websites and watching videos on YouTube. He requested his parents to buy him an electrical stove and experimented with both sweet and salty crepe filling before selling his delicious goods. The crepes are being sold for just 10 baht (RM1.35) apiece and their deliciousness keeps customers coming right back for more.
