Tis the season for booster shots and it looks like, for senior citizens who don’t plan to get their booster doses, they’ll soon be unable to enter stores that enforce complete vaccinations.
This also goes for all Sinovac recipients, regardless of age!
Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, took to his Twitter page to announce that the vaccinated status of senior citizens will be considered incomplete if they do not take their booster doses by 1 March.
He wrote, “For senior citizens, your vaccination status will become incomplete (white-coloured digital certificate on MySejahtera) if you do not receive your booster dose before 1 March.”
“The same goes for all Sinovac recipients, regardless of age.”
He explained that the reason for this is to encourage people to further protect themselves to be safe from the Omicron variant.
“Top up your protection to be safe from Omicron.”
And that didn’t go so well with netizens
“Before this, I used to adore you. Now, I feel like I want to inject you with 1,000 booster doses. Why do you treat us like this?”
“Why are you forcing? As long as they have 2 doses, it should be okay. Booster doses should not be forced. Don’t be like this, please.”
“YB, this is not fair. Pity the people who have severe health problems. My sister has asthma, she was in bad shape after taking her 2 Sinovac doses. Until now she is still in bad shape, that’s why I advised her against the booster dose. Last time you said that the booster dose was not compulsory. Now, it has become like this.”
