The woman who dashed into a burning car to save her boyfriend in the Tanjong Pagar accident is now out of the intensive care unit (ICU) and in stable condition.

According to Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Raybe Oh, 26, who has been fighting for her life since the accident on 13 February is now in a high dependency ward and conscious reported The Straits Times.

She had suffered severe burns on about 80% of her body when she tried to save her boyfriend, Jonathan Long, who died along with four other friends in a burning car. She was said to be still conscious when she was taken to SGH by ambulance.

Long’s father said that family members have kept Oh in their thoughts even while they struggle to cope with Long’s death.

“I treat her as my own daughter and I hope that she will be safe.”

“She is really a very good girl, and we will do our best to take care of her,” he said, adding that he has been keeping in touch with Oh’s mother to provide support.

Oh is a former Singapore Airlines air stewardess and a getai singer. Born in Malaysia, she began singing at 16 years old and studied at a polytechnic in Singapore.
