For now, registrations can only be made through Sarawak district offices and health clinics but will be expanded to the MySejahtera App soon!

Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas today said that the state are already accepting registrations for the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for Sarawakians. As reported by The Borneo Post, the state has opened registrations for vaccination under the Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, making them the first state in the whole of Malaysia to officially accept registrations.

Datuk Amar further clarified that for now, the Sarawak State Government is only accepting registrations through its district offices and health clinics. The option to register via the MySejahtera application will only proceed once it is ready by the Federal Government. He commented,

“The state agencies are ahead in the registration process. We aim to reach out to all eligible and who are not using the MySejahtera.”

“Our ‘ketua kampung’ (village chiefs) and ‘tuai rumah’ (longhouse chiefs) are already working together with our district offices and clinics on the process.”

Datuk Amar, who is also the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman that Sarawakians can approach the clinics and district offices nearest to them to register for the vaccine. He also reiterated that the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine would be free.

Sarawak is expected to receive doses of the Pfizer vaccine that is sufficient to vaccinate around 2.2 million people in the state. Moreover, the vaccination programme in the state would be officially launched on February 27 at the Stadium Perpaduan in Petra Jaya.

In its first phase, which is from the end of February until April, 97,000 frontliners will be vaccinated. The second and third phase would be from the end of March to August this year which will inoculate 929,000 people in high risk groups and 992,000 people above 18 years old respectively.
