A 21-year-old man suffered seven broken teeth and injuries on his head and hands after he was beaten up by another driver in a road rage incident at Jalan Kolam, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah yesterday (31 March) at 10pm.
The victim, who was driving a Honda, was at a traffic light where he is believed to have reprimanded the suspect in a Perodua Alza next to him for not signalling to enter the speed lane.
The Alza driver then allegedly used an iron rod to break the victim’s car window, reported Sinar Harian.
According to Kota Kinabalu police chief Assistant Commissioner Habibi Majinji, the suspect had also hit the victim on his head and hands with the iron rod, after which he got back into his vehicle and fled the scene.
“The injured victim was then helped by the public to get out of the vehicle. The man then contacted family members before he was taken to a nearby hospital,” he said.
“So far, the 36-year-old suspect has been identified and efforts to hunt him down are underway.”
Habibi added that the case is now being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for causing injury. Upon conviction, the suspect can face a maximum jail term of 20 years and a fine or whipping.
