A message has been circulating on WhatsApp claiming that users can now be charged for sending ‘Good Morning’ images in private and group chats. The message also emphasized that there will be a two-way charge, which means both sender and receiver will be charged.
This has rocked the world of many, especially in certain demographics, as most WhatsApp users often send these ‘Good Morning’ pictures as part of their morning routine.
The message that has been circulating reads:
“Please note: Starting from March 1st, all pictures of “good morning, happy weekend, etc” will be charged, and it is a two-way charge (sending and receiving), please use text for greetings. Don’t use pictures! Thank you.”
But, of course, this is a hoax. Probably started by someone who is fed up with having ‘Good Morning’ images in their gallery. We’ve all been there…
However, after receiving the fake information, many elders believed it to be true and forwarded it to remind relatives, friends, and children as a warning.
According to See Hua Daily News, this is just another ridiculous rumour as WhatsApp cannot read the content of a conversation sent by users. If one were to dive into WhatsApp’s security, the platform uses End-to-end encryption (E2EE) for the information transmitted between users to avoid text, pictures, videos, voice messages, documents, dynamic updates, and call content fall into the hands of lawbreakers.
So, how can it charge for the content of the conversation? Well, there is no way!
