The Ministry of Finance has announced that the eBelia eWallet program which provides RM150 eWallet credit for youths, will be open for redemption from 1 June 2021 to those aged between 18 to 20 years old (born between 2001 to 2003).

Unlike the previous eWallet initiatives such as eTunai and ePenjana, the eBelia program supports a total of four eWallet providers namely BigPay, Boost, ShopeePay, and Touch ‘n Go eWallet. Grab eWallet however, isn’t supported in the programme.

The initiative is said to be one of the measures taken to encourage cashless transactions among youths and full-time students at registered local institutions of higher learning, and also help relieve their financial burdens. The redemption period for the eBelia credit begins starts on 1 June and will carry on until 22 July 2021. The credit must be utilised by 31 July 2021.

According to the latest announcement by the Ministry of Finance, each eligible youth can redeem the RM150 credit once from one of the four eWallet providers and get additional incentives in the form of cashback, vouchers, points, or coins from the respective platforms.

Additionally, those eligible must also be full-time students in a diploma or SKM4 course and above at a registered institution of higher learning. “Eligible youths’ data will be cross-checked with registered institutions of higher learning and other relevant government databases,” the statement said.
