In some countries, it is actually illegal if you just pour the used oil down the drain or the pipe, as it may cause severe sewer damages like clogging, flooding, or even bursting of pipes, and you may be charged with a huge amount of fine.

Many do not know about this, but used cooking oil can actually be collected and processed into biodiesel, a type of renewable fuel. In Malaysia, there are even stores and companies that would buy your used cooking oil so you can earn a little penny!

Minimize Zero Waste Store that is based in Subang Jaya recently collaborated with SS Used Cooking Oil, where they will be buying your used cooking oil at RM1.50 per kilogram. There is also no minimum volume for this program, “as long as the amount you bring can be quantified in 5 sen increments,” according to the store.
