MOH Will Be Increasing Enforcement At Food Premises To Ensure Smoking Ban Is Upheld

The Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) are standing their ground on the ban on smoking at eateries by increasing enforcement to combat it in accordance with the Tobacco Products Control Regulations (PPKHT) 2004 amendment 2018.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin took to Twitter to share that he has instructed for heavier enforcement on the crack down on smoking at food premises.

He wrote, “Yesterday I asked for the enforcement of the smoking ban to be increased further,”

“While monitoring compliance with the pandemic standard operating procedures (SOPs), smokers who violate the ban can be fined.”.

The initial enforcement of Regulation 11 (1) (d) PPKHT 2004 amendment 2018, on the ban of smoking in all food premises including open air eateries, came into effect 1 January 2020.

We hope that everyone can cooperate with this law so that everyone can have a pleasant dine in experience.
