“Why not come and meet us” MOH To Meet Anti-Vaxxers Personally To “Educate” Them About Vaccines

As the nation progresses with the vaccination rates, there are still, unfortunately, a group of people who are against taking the vaccine.

Just recently, Port Dickson MP Anwar Ibrahim expressed his stand against the government’s “arrogant” approach on the group of people who do not have faith in the Covid-19 vaccines. He even suggested the government to approach them with relevant facts and evidence in order to convince them to get vaccinated.

His suggestion may now become a reality as yesterday (18 October), the Ministry Of Health (MOH) announced that they are making plans to set up a meeting in real life with the anti-vaxxers group, as reported by Astro Awani. Dato Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali, the Deputy Minister of MOH told Dewan Negara yesterday that he’s down to help with arranging the meetings, which may also involve the Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin.

“They need to be educated. Why not come and meet us. We’ll talk about the vaccines,” he said, while also reminding the people to stop spreading fake news about the Covid-19 vaccines as action will be taken against the spreaders.

According to The Edge Markets, MOH had also previously stated and clarified to the public that the function of the vaccines is not to completely fight off the virus, but rather a safety measurement to boost one’s immunity system to fight the virus. Additionally, vaccines have also been proven to be able to decrease the risk of getting severely infected.

vaccinated

In an effort to crack down on anti-vaccine misinformation, the ministry reportedly lodged police reports against irresponsible groups that had spread false information and brainwashed others against being inoculated, which will directly pose health threats to the country.

Meanwhile, Khairy Jamaluddin had also emphasized that those who refused to be vaccinated against Covid-19 would not be able to benefit from privileges that the fully vaccinated people are having.

As of 18 October, a total of 94% of Malaysian adults have been fully vaccinated, while 97.2% of them have received at least one dose of the vaccine, as reported by The Special Committee of Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV).

As we are entering the endemic phase, please keep practising the SOPs and get vaccinated if you have not.
