“I feel happiest when feeding people” – Friends Mourn Covid-19 Victim by Sharing Her Recipes

Death has always been a very heavy thing to talk about. In the past two years, many lives have been taken by the pandemic.

The people who survive have lost friends, family members and/or their significant others. These people are probably still coming to terms with their grief and for some, they decide to celebrate the life that the deceased has lived.

A group of friends who would like to keep a low profile has come together to create a recipe book in remembrance of their friend, Siti Nur’aini Nabila who is affectionately known as Nabski.

The Indonesian was born in 1999 and had passed away in July 2021 due to Covid-19. The whole project has gone viral on Twitter for how sweet and touching it is.

This recipe book contains the recipes that Nabski had cooked/shared with her other friends along with little morcels of moments shared together. In the preface, the group of friends say:

“If you’re looking for Nabski’s love, the easiest place to find it is in the kitchen. Nabski loves in many ways, but food is the first and foremost…”

“Nabski had once said: I feel the happiest when I’m feeding other people.”

Hence, the group believes that by making this recipe book, they are spreading Nabski’s love through the thing that she loves most. With this recipe book, they hope that you will recreate some of Nabski’s recipes filled with love:

“When the meal is warm, and you take your first spoonful, the taste that melts in your mouth is a reminder of her love for you; of her utmost belief that you will get through this, and she will always be with you, one dish at a time.”

One of her friends who goes by @SER0T0JIN on Twitter recounted Nabski herself saying that nobody will miss her when she dies but this cookbook goes a long way to show that that is definitely not true.

“Her heart may have stopped beating, but she will always live on in ours.”

We hope that Nabski will rest in peace wherever she is right now and we hope that she knows she is loved and missed by a number of people.
