Malaysia Added To America’s List Of ‘Highest Covid-19 Risk’ Travel Destinations

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has added Malaysia to their list of high-risk travel destinations for tourists.

Based on a report by CNN, the CDC placed Malaysia in ‘Level 4: Highest Risk’ as more than 500 cases per 100,000 people were registered in the past 28 days.

3 other countries were also added to Level 4, namely Brunei, Bhutan and Iran. With the addition of the 4 countries, CDC’s Level 4 list has now hit 140 locations.

Tourists have since been warned against visiting Level 4 countries for the sake of their health.

“You should interpret Level 4 to mean ‘this is a place with a lot of community transmission of Covid-19‘,”

“So if you go, there is a higher chance that you could contract the coronavirus,” shared CNN Medical Analyst Dr. Leana Wen.

In early January, there were only about 80 destinations listed in Level 4, though sadly, the rapid spread of the Omicron variant across the world saw the list increase to where it is today.

Other tourists spots currently listed under Level 4 of the CDC’s list include South Korea, France, Peru and Mexico.
