Lim Kit Siang Announces Retirement From Politics

After 56 years of active involvment in national politics, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang announce that he will be quitting for good following his announcement at DAP’s 17th National Congress held in Shah Alam.

Kit Siang mentioned in his announcement that he is also withdrawing from the race in the central executive committee (CEC) at the party’s election which will take place today.

“I am announcing my retirement from politics and I am also announcing my withdrawal for a place in the CEC.”

“I will no longer compete in any general or state elections in the future.”

In his message to party members and supporters, Kit Siang shared a reminder that DAP needs to remain constant in their objectives.

“We represent the hopes and aspirations of Malaysians who want the nation to stand tall in the world because of our achievements in various fields.”

Kit Siang is currently the MP for Iskandar Puteri, was previously the MP in a number of parliament including Bandar Melaka (1969 – 1974), Kota Melaka (1974 – 1978 / 1982 -1986), Petaling (1978 – 1982), Tanjong (1986 – 1999), Ipoh Timor (2004 – 2013) and Gelang Patah (2013 – 2018).
