In fact, if you’re looking for an adventurous road trip after years of being cooped up, then why not travel to Thailand via land route? Just yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that two Malaysia-Thailand land borders will open on 1 April, which are in Wang Kelian in Perlis and Bukit Kayu Hitam in Kedah.

As reported by national news agency Bernama, Ismail announced yesterday that Thailand has agreed to open both land borders. Furthermore, he has also instructed Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin to discuss with his Thai counterpart the immediate opening of the border in Padang Besar in Perlis and other Malaysia-Thailand land borders.

The Prime Minister also said that this was good news for Malaysians, especially for those residing in Perlis and Kedah. Ismail also He further elaborated,

“The opening of the border will make it easier for people to work and the SOP (standard operating procedures) that we have imposed is also quite relaxed, namely there is no more quarantine and there is no need to undergo PCR or RTK testing during pre-departure and arrival,”
