“MIR4 & DIN4” – PDRM Detains 2 Toyota Alphard For Illegal Installation of Fancy Plate Numbers

In order to express love, some people tattoo the names of their partners on their skin. Others may stick to the classic way of writing a love letter. But have you ever thought of putting your partner’s name on your vehicle registration plates as an expression of love?

If you do, then PDRM is watching you!

Yesterday (3 May), 2 multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) were detained by the police at a roadblock in Jalan Kuala Terengganu. Both MPVs were Toyota Alphard and they were stopped by the police for installing “fancy” registration numbers that resemble the names of their wives.

Both of the MPVs were detected using MIR4 & DIN4 as their license registration numbers, respectively, a reference to the name of Mira & Dina.

According to a Facebook post by PDRM’s Traffic Department & Enforcement (JSPT) in Terengganu, the 1st Toyota Alphard vehicle with the MIR4 registration number was detained at 3.24 pm. The 2nd Alphard with DIN4 was detained about 10 minutes later.

“Both vehicle owners gave an excuse to use the ‘fancy’ registration number to dedicate it to their respective wives,” Superintendant Ismail Man, the head of Terengganu JSPT said.

They also claimed that they are excited to own the MPVs in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

Ismail said the reason was unacceptable and the 2 MPVs were detained for further action.

He explained that the installation of the ‘fancy’ registration number involved can be considered a form of deception to the authorities and it violates Section 108 (3) (b) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

If convicted, a fine between RM5,000 0 RM20,000 or 1 to 5 years of imprisonment will be imposed on the violators.

JSPT Terengganu also reminded the road users that traffic laws must be complied with even though we are excited to celebrate the month of Syawal.

If you have the thought or plans to install fancy plate numbers for whatever reasons, you might want to move on from the intention in order to avoid unwanted consequences.
