The post Bus Driver in Taiwan Puts Up Sign Asking Passengers To Not Say ‘Thank You’ appeared first on WORLD OF BUZZ.
It is a common courtesy to say thank you when you have received any form of service from someone. However, many were left perplexed when a bus driver in Taiwan put up a sign asking people to NOT say thank you to him when they get off the bus.
The notice translates to,
“When you get down the bus, please do not say thank you.”
The ‘do not’ in the phrase is bolded.
A passenger found it peculiar that the bus driver would write such a notice, took a photo and posted in on social media. This sparked a debate online.
According to Oriental Daily, one netizen said that they once saw a little girl who took a bus. However, as it was nearing her station, she got ready and ran to the front of the bus to thank the bus driver and ran all the way back to the exit. The action is, of course, very dangerous and it is also time-consuming. As a result, the traffic lights which were green turned red and everyone had to wait.
Other netizens have shared their experiences and said that they have taken that particular bus. The bus driver would always say that he is tired and conflicted.
“When people thank me, I would need to give them a reply. If I don’t then they will say that I am impolite.”
Many netizens then gave side comments such as:
“If I don’t say ‘thank you’, I will feel bad.”
“Can I say ‘goodbye’ then?”
“Looks like I have to say ‘I love you’ then.”
