“We are ready for take off!” AirAsia Is Ready To Fly Again As Crews & Staff Are Fully Vaccinated

Have you been itching to get on a flight and go away anywhere and everywhere? Your wait may be over soon!

AirAsia Group chief executive officer, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes has revealed that with its operating crews and frontline staff now fully vaccinated, they are ready to fly again. A number of strict protocols involving contactless safety and hygiene measures will be implemented prior to the continuation of air travel which is expected in the near future, reported Bernama.

As part of the group’s strict policy, Tony added that,

“We are mandating that all of our operating crew and frontline staff serving guests, including pilots, cabin crew, and airport staff, are fully vaccinated to return to work.”

With stricter health and hygiene protocols, as well as tighter SOPs in place, he assured the guests that they can travel with peace of mind when they are finally reopened. Additionally, he is also hopeful that the countries will soon ease travel restrictions for the fully vaccinated as ASEAN is accelerating the vaccination process, not to mention that more than 50 countries in the world have begun accepting vaccinated travellers, according to TTR Weekly.

He is thankful for the rapid vaccination progress and he believed that the end is in sight.

“The end is in sight and I’m hopeful we will be able to return to the skies in coming weeks. Importantly, we are fully prepared and ready for take off.”

Guests are now encouraged to perform self-check-in online through the AirAsia super app platform to reduce physical contact and processing time. Automated bag drop facilities can also be used to avoid fees for using a check-in desk agent.

Here’s what AirAsia will do in order to provide an easy and hassle-free check-in procedure.

  • New check-in feature for travellers to verify any required medical documents online before the trip to the airport.
  • Biometrical facial recognition technology, which is in the midst of rolling out, will be implemented at key ports commencing with klia2 in the near future.
  • Check-in system via AirAsia super app, integrated with MySejahtera app.

Tony is convinced that despite the uncertainties, they will be flying again soon.

“One thing I am sure of is that we will return to the skies soon with a more robust and viable business model which isn’t solely reliant on airfares alone, as our digital transformation to become the ASEAN super app of choice is now fast becoming a reality.”

In November 2020, aviation experts at Airlineratings.com voted AirAsia group as the first airline worldwide to achieve the top 7-star rating for being Covid-19 safe.
