How many of these things are true though?

Adventure Panda is a renowned Facebook page that posts daily travel videos for tourists visiting Asian countries. With over 35K followers, most of their videos focus on the experience of Americans in Western countries and certain taboo practices in these countries as well.

The page posted a video on 15 February 2021 titled “Don’t Do These 3 Things In Malaysia”. Unsurprisingly, the comments section of the video was…colourful as Malaysians called out the page for their lack of research and inaccurate portrayal of the country.

The three things that you can’t do in Malaysia according to the video by Adventure Panda includes:

1. Don’t expect to get pork in Malaysia as most of the menus they saw only included fish and chicken. They said that beef was difficult to find in Malaysia. Even when they went to local markets, the couple said they could only find fish and chicken mostly, as beef was hard to find.

2.Do not point at things with your forefinger.

3. Do not eat durian in public places.

“Malaysia is generally beautiful and a friendly country but with its multicultural community practices and number of traditions and customs, visitors should absolutely be aware of.”

“As a traveller, it might be hard to know, all the ins and outs of the culture, but taking time to learn the Do’s and Dont’s, would make a huge difference in a way that creates one of the best experience in Malaysia.”

“Even in backpacker areas like Bukit Bintang, you have a wide range of meats, this is so wrong Adventure Panda, please do better research.”

“Can’t believe the sh*t both of you are speaking. I have been in Malaysia for three years now, you can find [a] beef burger simply by walking down the road from your house. You can find pork at the non-halal section in grocery malls.”

“I don’t know which part of Malaysia you went [to], but it must be a pretty small part, please explore more.”

“It’s like when tourists stop by an airport and claim to have experienced the country’s culture. Everything they mentioned was way off. Come by Malaysia again and ask a local next time. We have almost everything available here.”

WORLD OF BUZZ has reached out to Adventure Panda for their statement on this issue. If you’ve watched the video, what do you think of the points presented? Let us know in the comments section!
