Balik Kampung Rush Sees CSR Highway Completely Littered, Angering Netizens

It’s truly sad to see how little we care about what we leave behind.

The Central Spine Road (CSR) or the Lebuhraya Utama Tengah, was left trashed over the weekend as Malaysians traveled for the holidays.

The Planet Malaya Facebook page took to their profile to showcase the aftermath of the travels as folks left the highway completely littered.

They wrote, “Our people are terrible. The CSR highway is full of rubbish. It’s a shame for me as a Kelantanese. What can we do when there is no civic awareness? When teachers taught civics in class last time, you all slept in class.”

Netizens have since condemned their fellow Malaysians for their lack of compassion and responsibility over the environment.

“We’ve been given the facility of roads but we’re ungrateful. So scared that their cars will become dirty, but having dirty hearts is fine. Just temporarily keep the trash in your car until you find a suitable place (designated trash can), what’s wrong with that? Middle finger to those involved (in littering).”

“Please have car for the environment. So irresponsible. Don’t you feel guilty about being the hands that destroy the beauty of our own environment? Such embarrassing attitudes.”

“Is there a problem with keeping the rubbish in your car first instead of throwing it everywhere like that?”

highway 7

“Want to be a so-called developed country but can’t even throw rubbish properly. Polluters!”

One netizen also pointed out that this isn’t just happening at the CSR highway, but at other highways as well!

“Not just Kelantan. Yesterday, I traveled back using the PLUS highway heading north, which was full of garbage at night. Maybe after people broke their fasts. That doesn’t even include the smell of urine at the huts. Our civics are still low when it comes to hygiene issues. We have to keep reminding each other.”

It’s truly sad to see how the holiday season has been kicked off with littering our highways.

We genuinely hope that we all take littering as a serious issue and change our habits to normalise throwing rubbish in the designated bins.
